LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has recovered the body of a missing boater in Scott Lake.
The body of 34-year-old Charles Stuart of Lakeland was recovered by the PCSO Dive Team at about 2:20 p.m. in 10 feet of water.
Stuart was last seen in a boat on Scott Lake early Monday morning. He was reported missing at 2:45 a.m. by his girlfriend.
According to Matthews, the two-person kayak the couple was in began taking on water and capsized.
They did not take life-jackets with them on the kayak and Matthews said the couple had been drinking.
There were no signs of trauma.
The investigation is ongoing.
