UPDATE: Winter Haven seaplane crash seriously injures pilot and flight instructor

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA) — Two people have been injured after a plane went down in Winter Haven, according to authorities.

The plane crashed into an orange grove between Lake Smart and the intersection of 11st Street NE and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

The severity of the injuries are not known.

The plane’s tail number is registered to Jack Brown’s Seaplane Base, which trains seaplane pilots.

Pilots often use the area’s “chain of lakes” to practice touch-and-go’s on the water.
