New poll shows Florida Gov, Senate races too close to call

A newly-released Mason-Dixon poll shows both the governor’s race and the race for one of Florida’s senate seats are too close to call.

The poll shows incumbent Senator Bill Nelson holding a razor-thin lead over term-limited Florida Governor Rick Scott.

This shows improvement on Nelson’s camp since July. That’s when he trailed Scott 47 percent to 44 percent. Nelson is now polling at 47 percent  to Scott’s 46 percent, with 7 percent of voters described as undecided.

As for the hotly-contested governor’s race. There is a 1 percent lead in the race according to the Mason-Dixon poll.

Democrat Andrew Gillum is drawing 45 percent support and Republican Ron DeSantis has 44 percent.

The 1-percent lead is well within the poll’s 3.5 percent margin of error, which means this remains anyone’s race.

If you break it down by region, it is still a virtual tie in Tampa Bay.

Gillium brings in 46-percent of the vote and DeSantis 45 percent.

By gender, it’s split down the middle. 51 percent of women polled prefer Gillum, while 53 percent of men polled chose DeSantis.

Ron DeSantis is in Ybor City today campaigning. While Andrew Gillum is with Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn campaigning in Orlando.

The midterm election is November 6. The last day to register to vote is October 9.
