LARGO, FL (WFLA) – Two armed men broke into a home in Pinellas County, shot a man in the head and stole the family dog, as well as money, clothes, and electronics, according to Largo Police. Officers arrested one of the suspects this week.

The home invasion happened last May at the house located on the 2800 block of Keene Park Drive. Two armed suspects confronted two victims in the driveway and forced them into the house at gunpoint, according to the arrest affidavit.

Once inside, the robbers held one of the victims on the bedroom floor, while the other had to open the safe in the room. That’s when the robbers shot the man in the head.

The suspects escaped with money, clothes, electronics, and the family dog.

The victim who was shot survived his injuries.

Largo Police detectives located and identified one of the robbers, Martavious Burney, 23, a transient. He was taken to the Pinellas County jail on charges of home invasion robbery with a deadly weapon and attempted murder in the first degree.

Detectives didn’t release any information about what happened to the dog.
