Austintown police said they arrested two people early Monday morning after a short car chase and struggle with officers.
Officers said they found a running car sitting in the middle of the road on First Street just after 4 a.m. on Monday.
When the police cruiser turned onto First Street, officers said the car sped off, causing the front tires to spin out of control.
Police said they followed the car to the 200 block of First St., where the driver — 23-year-old Logan Daugherty, of Leetonia — ran out of the car and into a house. Officers ordered him to stop but he shut the front door behind him, according to a police report.
There were a handful of people sitting on the porch and officers ordered them off “for everyone’s safety,” according to the report.
Police said 27-year-old Alyssa Zebrasky, of Canfield, told them, “I am not moving. You’re gonna have to get me.” She insisted Daugherty did nothing wrong, police said.
Officers ordered her to come off of the porch several times before she finally started walking toward them.
Police said she then told them, “I have a knife on me, what are you going to do about that?”
They handcuffed her and said she started crying while kicking and pulling away from them.
Police found Daughtery inside the house, where he was arrested.
When police asked him why he ran, he told them he “had to go to the bathroom,” according to the report.
Police said they found two guns and three knives on the driver’s seat of the car, as well as a rifle in the trunk.
Jordan Mountain, who was inside the house, was also arrested on a warrant out of Newton Falls.
