TAMPA, FL (WFLA) – Tampa Police are looking for the carjacking suspect who punched a 12-year-old boy in the face and ordered him out of the car, according to the police report.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. in Tampa. A mother parked her car at Bible-Based Fellowship Christian Childcare Center at 8718 N. 46th St. and went inside to get her toddler. She left the car running. Her 12-year-old son was inside in the front passenger seat.

While the woman was in the childcare center, an adult male approached the vehicle. According to TPD, he punched the boy in the face and told him to get out of the car. The suspect then fled with the car. The boy suffered swelling and bruising to his face and was treated at the scene.

Police are actively searching for the car and the suspect.

The suspect is described as an African-American man 19 to 20 years old, about 6 feet tall, 180 pounds. He had short twists in his hair, gold teeth, and earrings in both ears. He was wearing a blue polo-style shirt and blue jeans.

The car he took is a silver 2009 Toyota Corolla with a Florida license tag of DQH D48.
