KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Police say a Louisiana man murdered and dismembered his parents and then tried to dissolve their body parts in an acid solution.
The disturbing murders happened in Knoxville, Tennessee on Thanksgiving weekend.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office said Joel Michael Guy, 28, was arrested in Baton Rouge and charged with murdering his parents.
Guy was arrested Tuesday evening and charged with two counts of first degree murder for the deaths of Joel and Lisa Guy whose remains were found at 1134 Golden View in Knox County.
Investigators described the crime scene as “horrific” and said it was a “very gruesome crime scene.”
The couple is believed to have been murdered between Friday night and Saturday morning. Police say both suffered from multiple stab wounds and had been dismembered. Remains were disposed of in multiple rooms throughout the house. The chief medical examiner has removed the remains from the scene for identification.
Detectives say Joel Guy Jr. arrived in Knox County on Wednesday to visit with his parents. After the murders, Guy went back to Baton Rouge where he was attending college.A welfare check called by Lisa Guy’s co-workers on Monday led to the discovery of “multiple, gruesome crime scenes,” according to the investigators.
Knox County detectives traveled to Baton Rouge to make the arrest. SWAT and Safe Streets team members assisted in the arrest, as did officers from the East Baton Rouge Parrish Police Office. Guy was trying to enter his vehicle at his apartment complex in Baton Rouge at the time of his arrest.
