Tampa Police want people to watch surveillance video of the moment 14-year-old Edward Harris was shot and killed near Woodland Park. The video also shows a silver car, which police believe the deadly shot was fired from. Police located that car and desperately want to find the people who were inside.

“The people that are in the silver sedan are extremely dangerous. They are extremely bold … (They would) shoot and kill a 14-year-old boy in broad daylight,” assistant police chief Mary O’Connor said.

Police are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting. The boy’s father is also looking for answers.

“They don’t have to kill each other. It is foolish. If they want to fight and go to war let them fight in Afghanistan,” Edward Harris Jr. said.

Harris said his son may have been targeted for pointing out suspects who drew a gun on him in the past. “Somewhere we got to stop these kids from killing each other. It needs to stop,” he added.

Police are pleading for the public’s help in solving the crime.

The city’s homicide rate has nearly doubled during the first six months of this year in comparison with last year. “Now it is important more than ever before school lets out for the parents out there and for the community out there to know that we are willing to do whatever it takes to keep out streets safe,” O’Connor said.

A $3,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the teen’s killer.
