Pinellas DUI suspect had alcohol level 3 times the limit, 2 kids in car, deputies say

PALM HARBOR, Fla. (WFLA) — Deputies say a Clearwater woman’s blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit when they caught her driving drunk with two kids in the car.

Investigators say a concerned citizen called the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office to report an intoxicated driver in the parking lot of the Shell gas station at the corner of Ridgemoor Boulevard and East Lake Road.

The concerned citizen and another witness reported seeing Kristy Lynn Kaskie, 34, drive erratically. They say she was unable to stay in her lane. The witnesses followed her to the gas station where they positioned their vehicles to prevent Kaskie from driving away.

The witnesses reported seeing Kaskie stumble and nearly fall when she got out of her vehicle to enter the store.

Deputies say two children, ages four and three, were in the backseat of the vehicle.

Kaskie was unable to perform field sobriety tests. According to deputies, she had a blood alcohol level of .254 /.258. In Florida, it is illegal to drive with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or higher.

Kaskie was arrested for DUI and two counts of child abuse. She was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.

Both children were taken into protective custody by a family member.
