SEMINOLE, Fla. (WFLA) – Detectives are seeking the public’s help to identity a suspect who allegedly inappropriately touched a girl walking home from Seminole High School on Friday.

According to the Crimes Against Children Unit of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the 15-year-old girl was walking home from school when she saw the man on the west side of Oakhurst Road near 86th Avenue North.

Detectives said the man hid behind a bush and waited for the school crossing guard to leave the area before he approached the girl.

The victim walked away from the man, but he followed, slapping her on the buttocks with his hand.

The girl ran away from the man but he followed, jogging behind her for about a half mile, according to detectives.

The man was unable to catch up to the girl.  He was last seen near 9130 Oakhurst Road.

The girl was not injured.
