TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — One person died and two others were injured after a vehicle struck several trees in Clearwater Thursday night.
The crash happened at about 10:30 p.m. on Bayshore Boulevard near San Mateo Street.
Police said the driver, Winston Norman, 32, was heading north at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle, which went off the road and hit several trees.
Police said his passenger, a 42-year-old man, died. Another passenger was treated for their injuries at Bayfront, but has since been released.
Norman was arrested on multiple charges, including DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and driving with a license suspended or revoked involving death.
The crash closed Bayshore for several hours, but the roadway has since reopened.
