A St. Petersburg police officer was injured when a man crashed into her parked patrol car on Monday.

According to police, a patrol officer was assisting the fire fire department and Duke Energy around 9:17 p.m. while they repaired some downed power lines.

The police officer was inside her parked patrol car with her lights activated at Melrose Avenue South and 31st Street to divert traffic.

The driver of a Lexus sedan, identified as Harry Fields, 66, crashed into the parked patrol car.

The police officer was extricated and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

She is hospitalized in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
