ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A St. Petersburg woman died Sunday after she was struck by a Freightliner truck days before, police said.

The St. Petersburg Police Department said at 1:50 p.m. Friday, Barbara Richards, 73, was riding a sit-down scooter when she tried to turn onto 38th Avenue North from a sidewalk.

However, the woman ended up going off the sidewalk and ran into the front passenger door of a white Freightliner moving truck that was heading east in the curb lane.

The driver remained at the scene.

Officers said Richards was taken to Bayfront Hospital where she died.
