A St. Petersburg man, who police say had a woman’s body stored in a small building behind his home, has been charged with murder.
Angel Beckford, 40, was taken into custody Monday night after frightened neighbors went to St. Pete police, saying a man was bragging about what he had behind his home on 16th Avenue South and showed them what appeared to be a woman’s body.
A SWAT team responded to the address and found the body of 29-year-old Cheyenne Snyder inside of a plastic storage tote.
Beckford was located nearby and admitted to killing Snyder. He was taken into custody without incident.
Police said both Beckford and Snyder struggled with addiction and knew each other for about a week’s time. Snyder leaves behind two children.
A preliminary investigation revealed Beckford shot Snyder during an argument they had over a mess she left in the residence.
Police said they’re still working on recovering firearms and establishing leads in the case.
Beckford spent years locked up in prison and has been arrested multiple times in Pinellas County.
