It’s one of the biggest places those in need go for help and now, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is reaching out to the community for volunteers to help them meet the needs of the public.

“Generally maybe four hours, maybe eight hours is what the average volunteer would like to put in. We would need three of those per day so we are looking at a base of 20 to 30 but right now I’m working off of about three to four,” said Society of St. Vincent de Paul thrift store manager Gary York.

York says when it comes to getting help, there has been a 56 percent drop in volunteers signing up agency-wide. He says improving the volunteer base would help them do wonders for the community.

“We have a volunteer base that comes in but unfortunately we don’t have enough to meet all of the demands of the work we are doing,” York said.
