The St. Petersburg Police Department has arrested a man accused of multiple robberies throughout the St. Petersburg and Tampa areas.
Ted Benjamin Grossman, 36, is charged in two attempted armed robberies in St. Petersburg and is suspected to be involved in nine other armed robbery cases in St. Petersburg and Tama since March.15.
Deputies say Grossman pointed a gun at clerks and demanded cash. No shots were fired any on the cases.
Grossman gave authorities 4423 W. Culbreath Avenue in Tampa as his home address.
The home, valued at $1,146,651 is owned by Arthur and Catherine Grossman.
According to an employee at the Chic-fil-A in South Tampa, Arthur Grossman owns and operates that franchise.
St. Petersburg Police Officers have been working closely with Tampa Officers on this case and Sgt. Kevin Haemmelman said Wednesday morning they got the break they were waiting for after another armed robbery at a Mobile station.
“A canine officer was flagged down by an employee of the store and advised that canine officer that the store had just been robbed. The canine officer acted quickly and was pointed in the direction that the suspect fled and able apprehend the suspect,” Sgt. Haemmelman said.
Grossman is no stranger to the law. Records show he served time in Florida State Prison for several armed robberies in 2003.
Grossman should make his first appearance before a judge on Thursday.
