A Seminole dad was arrested on Thursday after he was seen unloading a firearm in a school pickup line.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Madeira Beach Fundamental School after a man was seen pointing a gun out the window of his Dodge pickup truck.
The school was immediately placed on lockdown and deputies arrived at the scene and made contact with 47-year-old Timothy Dunn who was found with an unloaded .40 caliber Glock handgun, two magazines and 27 rounds of ammunition. Dunn was also in possession of a valid Florida concealed weapons permit, deputies said.
Dunn told detectives he was waiting for his child to get out of school and decided to “clear” or unload the firearm and pointed the gun out of the window to pull the slide back on. He never pointed the gun at anyone in a threatening manner, deputies said.
Dunn was arrested and charged with one count of Possession of a Weapon on School Property. He was taken to the Pinellas County Jail without incident.
The school’s lockdown order has since been lifted.
