Clearwater police have arrested a Swiss tourist who was caught on camera at a restaurant stealing an engagement ring left behind by another diner, officials said.
According to a report, Barbara Beaud, 46, was charged with theft and booked into the Pinellas County Jail late Friday afternoon. She was later released on a $2,000 bail.
At about 3 p.m. Friday, police were called to Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill on Clearwater Beach after a diner reported her $8,500 engagement ring was missing.
Beaud was identified as a suspect in the theft after police reviewed surveillance video that shows her take the ring from the table and leave the restaurant with her family. Police have not released the video at this time.
Beaud was spotted walking along Mandalay Ave. and was taken into custody.
