Police in Tarpon Springs are searching for a man who went into a bank, said he was armed and demanded money.

The robbery happened around 10:15 Saturday morning at the Chase Bank on U.S. 19 near East Tarpon Avenue.

According to officers, the suspect told a teller inside he had a gun then gave them a duffel bag and ordered them to put cash in it. He immediately left after getting the cash.

Investigators believe the man walked away from the scene, and say no suspect vehicle was spotted leaving the area.

No employees at the bank were injured. Police also say the man never took out a gun – he only implied that he had one.

The suspect is described as a black man between 20 and 30 years old with a thin build. He was wearing a dark blue suit with a white dress shirt and tie, as well as a gray cabbie hat and prescription-type glasses.
