Police say a Gibbs High School student was arrested for threatening to take a gun to school.

St. Pete police detectives said a 15-year-old girl was charged with “written threat to kill, do bodily injury or conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism,” a second-degree felony.

Police got a tip that a ninth-grader took to Facebook saying she was going to take a gun to school.

Investigators quickly identified the student and she was taken into custody, police said.

“This serves as a reminder to all students that this is a very serious matter. The St. Petersburg Police Department will investigate any and all perceived threats to the safety and well being of our schoolchildren,” said St. Petersburg Police spokeswoman Yolanda Fernandez.
