PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A 14-year-old student at Safety Harbor Middle School was arrested Tuesday, accused of threatening a mass shooting, deputies said.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the student sent a Snapchat to another student saying, “I’m shooting school up tomorrow.”

The teen admitted to sending the message but claimed it was a joke. Deputies arrested and charged the middle-schooler with one count of written threats to kill or conduct a mass shooting.
