Pinellas County beach town to be featured on HGTV’s ‘Rock the Block’

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — HGTV is bringing the next season of its hit competition show, Rock the Block, to the Tampa Bay area.

On Monday, the network announced the show’s fifth season takes place on Treasure Island in Pinellas County.

Hosted by Ty Pennington of HGTV’s Battle on the Beach, Rock the Block puts four teams of returning players to the test, to see who can add the most value to homes on Boca Ceiga Bay. The luxury homes, constructed by Tampa-based Blake Building, feature pools, boat docks and stunning bayside views.

Each team gets $250,000 to work with to make their vision a reality. The winner, to be judged by Jonathan Scott of the Property Brothers, gets bragging rights and a street named in their honor, as well as a donation in their name to No Kid Hungry.

“Rock the Block is consistently among HGTV’s highest-rated series, so we know fans are eager to watch this rematch and root for their favorite HGTV stars,” Loren Ruch, Head of Content for HGTV said in a statement. “For the first time in the series’ history, the teams will work with waterfront homes, pools and boat docks, which will test the competitors’ skills like never before.”

This season of Rock the Block premieres March 4 at 9 p.m. on HGTV. Each episode will be available for streaming on Max.
