ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car in St. Petersburg on Wednesday night.
Detectives say a 2009 Honda Accord driven by Aaron Williams was southbound in the southbound center lane of 34th Street North just before 10 a.m. A pedestrian was crossing 34th Street North from east to west against oncoming northbound and southbound traffic. The pedestrian crossed the raised median and entered the southbound lanes directly in front of Williams’ path of travel.
Williams was unable to stop or swerve due to other southbound traffic and struck the pedestrian with the front of his vehicle. The pedestrian was thrown up onto and over Williams’ vehicle and landed in the road.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the crash.
Detectives say no criminal charges expected.
The investigation is ongoing and the identity of the pedestrian is pending notification of the next of kin.WHAT OTHERS ARE CLICKING ON RIGHT NOW:
