TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man was not using a crosswalk when he was struck and killed by a vehicle in Seminole Friday morning, authorities said.
The incident occurred in the 7500 block of Starkey Road at about 6 a.m.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said the man, Michael Gravino, 85, was walking east across Starkey when he was hit by GMC pickup truck that was heading northbound and had moved from the curb into the center lane.
Gravino died at the scene.
Deputies said he was not in a designated crosswalk. They determined neither speed nor impairment were factors in the crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
