If you believe every restaurant has a startup story, then the one behind Oak & Stone will have you plotting how to turn some of your favorite things to do into a successful business.
Brett Deckleverset wanted to find a place in Sarasota to “watch the game with a cold beer and delicious food.” So from scratch, he and his business partner Joe Seidensticker opened their Oak & Stone in Sarasota. Now the two entrepreneurs are opening their second restaurant, this time in St. Petersburg.
“Joe and I wanted to create a space where people can have fun with their family and their friends,” said Decklever. “It’s a great environment for people of all ages,” he added.
Oak & Stone is best described as a unique new American tavern. Starting today, this latest restaurant is expected to bring new flavor to downtown St. Petersburg.
“We are so excited to share Oak & Stone with St. Petersburg,” said Seidensticker. “We think the city will embrace what we have to offer and we can’t wait to be a part of the community,” he added.
The highlight of Oak & Stone is its self-serve beer tap wall featuring 50 rotating varieties of American craft beers. Guests 21 and over use a high-tech wristband that allows them to pour beer from a tap.
Technology in the wristband links to software that updates the guest’s tab based on how many ounces are poured during the visit. After a guest has poured 40 ounces, they can re-load their bracelets with more ounces.
During opening week, July 9 – 14, Oak & Stone will donate a portion of sales to Academy Prep Center of St. Petersburg, a private, non-profit middle school that serves low-income students.
