The National Weather Service confirmed an EF 0 tornado touched down in Madeira Beach Sunday.
Cathie Gary watched as 70 mph winds lifted her neighbor’s screened porch enclosure and toss it across the neighborhood on Parsley Drive.
“It went so high and then you can see this is the ceiling of the room,” said Gary.
“It just lifted it up really, really high where there’s still some vinyl windows right up there in the tree.”
Trees and power lines snapped as it moved quickly on land.
“Some of it went flying over Lily’s car,” said Gary.
Storm Team 8 meteorologists said a waterspout was embedded within yesterday’s line of storms.
It moved ashore and then quickly dissipated.
Video from the next door neighbors camera captured winds lifting up the structure.
Neighbor Gabby Gerulis saw debris in her yard.
“Windows, little were at our house. They were even down there a little ways. We walked down there and it was just like crazy, like, they just blew over the whole thing,” she said.
Gary said it could have been worse.
“We’ve had water spouts, but no I don’t think we ever had a tornado,” she said.
The homeowner is out of town in Michigan. He’s expected to return Wednesday.
