Investigators say the mother killed him.

Largo police believe Charisse Stinson killed 2-year-old Jordan Belliveau, not some man who offered her a ride.

That sad news comes after almost three days of frantic searches by police and volunteers.

The stunning revelation blows a hole in the mother’s wild story about being knocked in the head by a stranger named “Antwan.”

On her way to jail, charged in the death of her own toddler, News Channel 8 watched the young mother being taken to a prison transport van for the trip to be booked.

At the scene, overcome with emotion, the family of the baby boy, including the boy’s grandmother, huddled together after Largo detectives told them little Jordan Belliveau would not be coming home.

His body was found north of the Largo Sports Complex baseball fields, in the woods.

The culprit, according to investigators, is the boy’s own mother.

“As a result of this team’s efforts, I’m proud to announce the arrest of Charisse Stinson, a black female, 4-9-1997, [her birth date] for the charge of first degree murder in the death of her son,” said Largo Chief Jeffrey Undestad.

When asked if police are still looking for the mystery man, Antwan, who Stinson claimed gave her a ride and hit her on the head, the short answer was no.

Many volunteered to look for the toddler.

“Maybe a clue. Or maybe we’ll find the baby somewhere. Maybe he’s fine and maybe he’s still alive,” said Christina Muhareb.

News of the boy’s death is devastating to people who held out hope Jordan would be found alive.

“This was a complete team effort, however, unfortunately, the team did not get the results we had desired. And our thoughts and prayers go out to the Belliveau family,” said Mark Brutnell, FDLE Special Agent in Charge.

There’s a lot more Largo police are not telling us, like how they came to believe she killed her son.

The news conference ended up being quick and to the point with no detail offered.
