ST.PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — St. Petersburg police have arrested a man they believe to be responsible for a double homicide Thursday night.

Police said Barbarajean Lombardi, 18, and Tommy Dixon, 21 were shot to death.

They said suspect James Pagan, 29, knew at least one of the victims and fled the scene after the shooting. According to the SPPD, Pagan was arrested a few hours later on unrelated charges by Alachua County Deputies.

Officers said they got multiple calls about the shooting just after 11 p.m. Thursday on the 1700 block of Granville Court South.

Police said when rescue teams arrived at the scene of the shooting, they tried to save both Lombardi and Dixon, but both died in the house.

St. Petersburg Police spokesperson Yolanda Fernandez said these are the 25th and 26th homicide victims to die in the city this year. To put that into perspective, there were 15 homicides in the city in 2020, according to Fernandez.

Investigators spent the early hours of Friday morning walking around the neighborhood and interviewing witnesses. The investigation is still active, but so far, police say the homicides could be domestic-related.
