ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – The St. Petersburg Police Department is searching for more information about a homicide that occurred last weekend.

The shooting occurred May 5 around 1:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of 29th Street South.

Investigators believe Jermaine Cummings was trying to break up a fight at a gathering there when he was shot.

There were several witnesses at the scene, but most ran when the shots were fired.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the non-emergency line at 727-893-7780 or text SPPD and their anonymous tip to TIP-411.

Those who contact Crime Stoppers may be eligible to receive a reward of up to $3,000.
