ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A man on a scooter was killed in a crash in St. Petersburg on Monday morning.
St. Petersburg Police Department investigators say at 6:40 a.m. a blue 2003 Chevrolet Pickup driven by 53-year-old Steven Buch was traveling northbound on 16th Street North.
The Chevrolet made a left hand turn from 16th Street North onto 3rd Avenue North and struck a scooter that was headed southbound on 16th Street.
Willie Bennett, 53, was thrown from the scooter. He was was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Buch stopped and cooperated with police.
Investigators say Impairment was not a factor in the crash.
