St. Petersburg Police are investigating a double homicide, after two bodies were discovered around 7:30 a.m.

Starlett Clark has lived in the south St. Pete neighborhood since she was a child.

She said the crime is out of control.

“My son was killed almost three years ago and I have a lot of close friends that have lost a son,” said Clark. “On every single corner there need to be an officer on duty.”

Tuesday, two people, a man and a woman, were found murdered in an alley near her home, behind an abandoned building off 16th St. S and 14th Ave. S.

Clark said she saw the bodies near the truck, parked in the alley.

She said the two were always seen together around the neighborhood and never bothered anyone.

“It may not be my family member, but someone else it matters to me. it really hurts me to see someone laying dead around here,” said Clark.

Police aren’t releasing to many details, only that someone flagged down a cop this morning after finding the bodies.

The victims were identified Tuesday evening as Kenneth Shook, 35, and Cheryl Casey, 58.

Clark said she hopes authorities get to the bottom of this tragedy.

“Whoever family member that is laying in the alley, I just wish they can, you know, i just pray for that family. It’s sad,” she said.

Authorities have not yet released what caused their death.
