TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Access to the barrier islands along the Pinellas County coast reopened at 5 p.m. Wednesday after being closed due to flooding caused by a combination of storm surge and high tides.
On Wednesday morning, police reported flooding around Clearwater Beach and elsewhere in the city. Access to the beach was closed, even for those with barrier permits.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office closed access to the following islands at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday morning and wouldn’t allow residents or visitors to access those areas.

- Clearwater
- Dunedin Causeway/ Honeymoon Island
- Indian Rocks Beach
- Indian Shores
- Madeira Beach
- North Redington Beach
- Redington Beach
- Redington Shores
- St. Pete Beach
- Tierra Verde
- Treasure Island
Anyone experiencing flooding in their home or businesses is encouraged to take photos for insurance purposes and to stay elevated.
Any damage from flooding can be reported through the Ready Pinellas app or disaster.pinellas.gov.
Residents are urged to stay off the roads and continue to shelter from the storm even after winds have subsided.
