CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) – The Florida Department of Health is urging patrons of a Clearwater Arby’s to get vaccinated after a food service worker tested positive for hepatitis A.
Investigators with the Department of Health in Hillsborough County said people who visited the restaurant, located on 30263 US Highway 19 N., between April 5 and April 20 may have been exposed to the highly contagious virus.
“If you frequented this restaurant during that period and have not previously been vaccinated for hepatitis A, you should consider getting vaccinated,” the health agency said in a news release.
Hepatitis A is a viral illness that affects the liver and causes fever, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, jaundice or yellowing of skin and eyes and dark urine.
Those who believe they are at risk can get a free vaccination at one of the following clinics on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.:
- St. Petersburg: 205 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. N
- Pinellas Park: 6350 76th Ave. N
- Mid-County (Largo): 8751 Ulmerton Rd
- Clearwater: 310 N. Myrtle Ave
- Tarpon Springs: 301 S. Disston Ave
