CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) – The results are in for Dr. Beach’s annual Top 10 Beach List from around the country. Two beaches in Florida made the list, including one right here in the Bay area.
Caladesi Island State Park Beach in Pinellas County came in at No. 7.
At the top of the list is Oahu’s Kailua Beach Park in Hawaii. The other Florida beach on the list is Grayton Beach State Park in the Panhandle ranking at No.3.
Florida International University professor Stephen Leatherman, also known as Dr. Beach, uses 50 criteria to assess and rank beaches across the US. Some of the criteria includes sand softness, water temperature, trash and litter on the beach as well as safety record.
This is the 29th year Dr. Beach has created his top 10 list.
