Britany Jacobs said she’s still fighting for justice months after her boyfriend, Markeis McGlockton, was shot and killed at a convenience store in Clearwater back in July.

The controversial ‘Stand Your Ground’ shooting remains in the national spotlight.

Shooter Michael Drejka is currently out on bond.

He goes to trial in August 2019.

“It’s real tough and I know Markeis is watching over us and he’s keeping me strong,” she said.

She’s seven months pregnant and says her unborn son will never get to know his father.

Jacobs said their three children continue to look for their father, especially heading into Christmas.

“Markeis was a good man and he was the best father any kid could ask for. He enjoyed everything with his kids and most kids don’t even have a father, and for him to always be in his kids’ life was a big impact to his kids, and it’s hard to go through the season and holidays without him,” she said.

Jacobs said they didn’t know she was expecting when he was shot.

She found out in October when she felt the baby kick.

The stress of the trial coming up is taking a toll.

Her attorney, Benjamin Crump, said Drejka should be behind bars.

“All we want is due process of the law. We want basic fairness. If the shoe was on the other foot and Markeis McGlockton would have did to Michael Drejka’s family, what he did to their family unit, nobody would have sympathy,” said Crump.

“That’s why this Valentine’s Day, will not be a joyous occasion for Britany Jacobs when she welcomes the newest addition to her family unit because one of the biggest pieces is gone.”

Jacobs said she’ll tell the new baby he died protecting them.

“I want to thank the community for all their love and support,” said Jacobs.

Jacobs is due Feb. 9.

The family has created a GoFundMe account for support going into the holidays and to help with the baby’s needs when he’s born.
