A death investigation is underway in Clearwater after a 71-year-old man was found dead in his home.
Pinellas County deputies were called to a home on Meadow Dale Drive in Clearwater Thursday night around 9:30. Responding deputies say they found the man who lives there, 71-year-old Daniel Gillespie Jr., dead inside.
Detectives later confirmed he died of unnatural causes. They have not released any information on how Gillespie died.
“I showed up for work here Saturday at 8 o’clock in the morning and there are like nine CSI vans and police outside,” said Amber Templeton, who works across the street.
“He was, I’ve never really seen him in person, but I’ve heard him. He’s loud. He wasn’t necessarily the nicest guy. “
Right now, the sheriff’s office is calling this an “open and ongoing investigation.” Detectives say it does not appear to be related to any other open death investigations.
