55 sheriffs endorse Rick Scott for Senate

Governor Rick Scott made a stop in St. Petersburg on Monday to make a major announcement about his run for Senate.

Several law enforcement officials from the Tampa Bay area and Southwest Florida joined Scott to announce that 55 Florida sheriffs are endorsing him for Senate.

Tampa Bay area sheriffs who threw their support behind the governor include Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister and Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis.

Scott, a Republican, is running for Senate against incumbent Democratic Senator Bill Nelson.
