(WGBA) – A domesticated kangaroo was killed in a hit-and-run in Wisconsin this week.
A Shawano County couple was out searching for their missing kangaroo, Lulu, Tuesday after she escaped from their home.
One of the owners spotted Lulu in the town of Waukechon, and was trying to coax her closer to him when a truck sped by.
The owner said he tried waving his arms to get the driver’s attention, but the truck kept going. Moments later, the driver’s side mirror hit the man in the chest and the tires ran over his foot. The kangaroo was also hit, but died as a result of its injuries.
According to the sheriff’s office, the owner reported that the driver of the truck stopped a short distance down the road, got out of the vehicle, and repeatedly said “I’m sorry” before leaving the scene.
The driver is described as a woman in her mid-20’s with shoulder-length hair, glasses, and is said to be about 5′ 5″ to 5′ 7″ tall.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office.
