PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office says it has made contact with a person of interest in connection with an attempted kidnapping of a 9-year-old girl in New Port Richey.
On Wednesday, deputies announced they were looking for Drew Bretnall, age unknown, to talk to him. They say he could have some critical information that could help them solve this case. It’s unclear whether or not he knows the girl.
The sheriff’s office released Bretnall’s driver’s license photo and asked the public to share it with others. Earlier this morning, they released a composite sketch of the suspect and an image of the car he was driving.
Detectives say it happened at 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday. The girl was walking home when she was chased from the roadway and between houses by an adult white male in the area of Little Creek Drive and Canopy Drive.
The girl went to seek help.
When she returned home, detectives say the same suspect approached her in a blue car and made several verbal attempts to get her into the car. Police say coincidentally, Bretnall’s car matches the car in the girl’s description and a car found near the scene shortly after the incident.
The girl managed to lock herself inside her home and set off an alarm before the suspect fled the area, according to deputies.
Detectives say the girl is a student at Deer Park Elementary.
