A 3-year-old boy is recovering at St. Joseph’s Hospital after he nearly drowned in Pasco County on Saturday.

Officials offered limited details regarding the incident, but it reportedly occurred at a home on Bud Street in Hudson.

The boy’s family refused to talk to News Channel 8 on camera, but said they expect him to make a full recovery.

One of their neighbors told us it looked like they were hosting a pool party. She later saw several emergency vehicles pull up and line the road and watched as the young boy was carried out on a stretcher and put into an ambulance.

The boy’s mother contacted News Channel 8 to say she and her children are from Virginia and they were visiting her brother’s house, hanging out by the pool.

She says she carried her son to the driveway when the ambulance arrived, where emergency crews convinced her he should be taken to the hospital to make sure he was okay.

The woman said son is doing well. He was released from St. Joseph’s Hospital the following day.
