A New Port Richey teen is accused of writing a bomb threat that prompted heightened security at River Ridge High School, deputies said.
The threatening message, which appeared on a stall inside of the girl’s bathroom, read “Bombs will be placed on campus tonight,” according to deputies.
School officials immediately notified the sheriff’s office, which increased patrols in the area.
Surveillance video showed a 17-year-old girl enter the bathroom around the time the incident occurred, deputies said.
The girl, whose name we have chosen to withhold, was taken into custody, then transported to a juvenile detention center without incident, according to an arrest report.
No further details are immediately available.
