A substitute teacher in Pasco County was arrested over the weekend after deputies say he started a fight with a bouncer at a sports bar.
According to an arrest report, 48-year-old Jason Mills went to Joe Whiskey’s Sports Bar in Wesley Chapel just after 2 a.m. Saturday and got into an argument with a bouncer.
Deputies say the verbal argument escalated when Mills tried punching the bouncer. The arrest report says the bouncer punched Mills, knocking him to the ground. Mills was then handcuffed by the bouncer and other staff members.
Deputies who responded to the bar say Mills was extremely intoxicated and belligerent.
Several witnesses told deputies they saw Mills attack the bouncer. Deputies determined Mills was the primary aggressor and arrested him for misdemeanor battery.
A sheriff’s office spokesman says it was later confirmed that Mills is an active substitute teacher for Pasco County Schools.
