Man steals $100K from unlocked armored truck at Pasco County Circle K, deputies say

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A man allegedly stole more than $100,000 from an unlocked armored truck last month in Pasco County, according to an affidavit obtained Thursday by News Channel 8.

Stefon Torrence Alexander Carew, 37, parked a white van next to an armored truck at a Circle K in the 9000 block of SR-52 near Hudson, according to the affidavit. Carew allegedly went to the truck, opened the unlocked door and took two money bags.

Carew allegedly pre-paid for $30 in fuel inside the store before the theft, according to the affidavit. Photos taken from store surveillance cameras were run through facial recognition software to match the person in the photo to Carew’s driver’s license photo.

Law enforcement also learned about a pawn transaction made by Carew in October, which listed him as having the same vehicle that was used in the alleged theft.

The photos from inside the store were also sent to a witness who knows Carew, and that person said the photos in the store appeared to be Carew, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit does not list what charges Carew is facing.
