Detectives have released the name of the shooter who killed a 37-year-old woman early Thursday morning in Zephyrhills.

Pasco County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call about a shooting at 2:18 a.m. at 39829 Otis Allen Rd.

Detectives say their initial investigation found that Brandy Contreras and other people arrived at the location and threatened a man with a gun.

The man, identified as Jessie Ellison, 36, told deputies that he shot Contreras in self-defense.

The sheriff’s office confirms Ellison lives at the address where the victim was shot.

Deputies say Contreras and Ellison knew each other and there is no threat to people in the neighborhood.

Ellison is cooperating with the investigation and no arrest has been made in the case.

Detectives are looking to speak with three possible witnesses in the shooting.

Timothy Dawson, 33, Nathan Patz, 32, and Dana Borders, 32, have no known addresses.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of any of the possible witnesses is asked to call 911 immediately.
