HUDSON, Fla. (WFLA) – A food service worker at the ICON Gentlemen’s Club in Hudson was confirmed to have hepatitis A last month, News Channel 8 has learned.
The Florida Department of Health has requested anyone who consumed any food or beverage from this gentlemen’s club from April 15 – 23 may also have been exposed to the hepatitis A virus.
A vaccination is recommended for anyone who ate or drank between April 24 – May 1 at the gentlemen’s club
This is one of many multiple cases across the Tampa Bay area in a joint investigation by the Florida Department of Health and the Division of Hotels and Restaurants.
According to the CDC, hep A is a “vaccine-preventable, communicable disease of the liver caused by the hepatitis A virus.” The disease is usually transmitted through the “fecal-oral route” or if someone consumes contaminated food or water.
Hep A symptoms include fatigue, low appetite, stomach pain, nausea and jaundice. The CDC says the symptoms usually resolve within two months of infection.
