Five elementary school students were aboard a school bus when it was involved in a crash with a dump truck on Thursday morning, a Pasco County School District spokeswoman said.

The students, who were en route to Quail Hollow Elementary School in Wesley Chapel, were not hurt in the collision that happened around 9 a.m. near Overpass and Boyette Roads, not far from Interstate-75.

The bus came to a rest tilted on the side of the road, nearly enough to topple over.

The driver of the dump truck suffered minor injuries but did not require a trip to the hospital.

Florida Highway Patrol said the school bus driver is at fault for the crash after she failed to yield to the dump truck in the intersection.

The school bus driver received a ticket at the scene.

Pasco County school spokeswoman Linda Cobbe tells 8 On Your Side that the school bus driver was tested for drugs and alcohol after the accident.

The driver could face disciplinary action after the school system complete their review of the crash.
