2 seriously injured after plane crash at Pasco County airport

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Two people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a plane crashed in Pasco County Thursday, authorities said.

According to Pasco County Fire Rescue (PCFR), the plane crashed at the Zephyrhills Municipal Airport at 39450 South Avenue. The FAA said the crash happened around 1 p.m.

Pasco officials confirmed one of the crash victims was airlifted to a hospital, and the other was taken via ambulance.

PCFR said the conditions of the victims are unknown at this time.

According to the FAA website and Pasco officials, the plane is registered to Kingsky Flight Academy. 8 On Your Side reached an employee via phone, but they said they didn’t have any information and would not answer return phone calls.

The Zephyrhills Police Department is also on the scene. According to PCFR, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been called to investigate the crash. 8 On Your Side saw an FAA investigator on scene on Thursday.

The FAA and NTSB said the plane was a single-engine Cessna C172.

South Avenue from Airport Road to Sixth Avenue has reopened to traffic in both directions. The plane is still fenced off on the side of the road as of Thursday.
