Eight people were injured in a crash in Pasco County on Thursday evening.
The crash happened at 6:23 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 52 and Hays Road.
Detectives say Michael Mosley, 68, of Spring Hill was driving a 2001 Chevy SUV eastbound on SR-52 and turned left into the path of a 2005 Dodge SUV that was traveling westbound. The SUVs collided, nearly head-on.
Mosley and the driver of the other SUV, Jazzmin Nelson, 19, of Spring Hill, were transported to the hospital. Six passengers in Nelson’s SUV were also transported to hospitals. A 5-year-old child was among the victims and was airlifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital. All crash victims are hospitalized in stable condition.
There were so many people injured, Pasco County Fire Rescue declared it a level 1 mass casualty incident.
