CHULUOTA, Fla. (WESH) — While many people are adopting puppies and kittens around the holidays, one unique-looking dog in Orange County is searching for a home.
Sniffles is a star at the veterinarian’s office in Chuluota.
The stray dog, with no nose and crooked teeth, was taken in by Orange County Animal Services.
His deformity, which causes some snorting, hasn’t had people knocking down the door to adopt Sniffles.
“He’s just a precious old man. Everyone at the vet’s office has fallen in love with him,” Michelle Wacker said.
Genesis Diaz, who has been fostering the dog, said Sniffles is very laid-back and likes to snort.
“This morning I woke up and he was at the edge of my bed, staring at me, and he ran over and did a little twirl and started licking my face,” Diaz said.
“He’s a healthy dog. He just looks a little funny,” Wacker said.
Sniffles will need some dental work within the next week so, if you decide to give him a home, his current grin will not look the same.
Half the dogs at Poodle and Pooch Rescue are older, injured or dealing with a medical issue.
“Ninety percent of the time, we can fix these dogs,” Wacker said. “When we see a special needs dog that we know we can help, we move to bring it in. Otherwise, it likely faces euthanasia.”
Wacker hopes someone can find it in their heart to give Sniffles a home.
