(WFLA) — In Florida’s senate race, a new poll now shows the race is too close to call.
The Quinnipiac University poll shows Congressman Patrick Murphy chomping on Senator Marco Rubio’s heels. Rubio is leading with 49 percent with Murphy taking 47 percent.
Two weeks ago, Rubio had a 4-point lead.
“I think its Florida, Florida is a competitive state. They call us the swing state for a reason. I don’t pay a lot of attention public polls; they’re meaningless in August, September and October because it’s Florida,” said Rubio in Tampa Wednesday as he toured the J.C. Newman Cigar Company in Ybor City.
Rubio also spoke out on his issue of use of WikiLeaks documents.
“I personally will not be talking about any revelations that come about solely as a result of WikiLeaks. Our intelligence officials who are non-partisan people told us this is the work of a foreign intelligence agency. We cannot be a country where foreign intelligence agencies influence our political process. What I would say to my Republican colleagues, some of them might be disappointed by the position I’ve taken, is: Today its them, tomorrow it could be us,” said Rubio.
Rubio told reporters he doesn’t share the same concerns as Donald Trump about a rigged election.
“I have confidence in the electoral process, especially in Florida. I think it would be tragic, I really do, for people to give up their vote in this country after coming here to flee from places where they didn’t have a vote themselves,” said Rubio.
